DEADLINE EXTENDED: We recognize that there was a short turnaround time between our original call to artists and the April 15th deadline. We would like artists to have a chance to finish work they started (or take on another building!). We are extending the submission deadline to midnight on: Sunday, April 23, 2023
For artists who submitted work by the original deadline, you are welcome to make changes, additions or alterations to work previously submitted. Artists can also submit an additional entry (or two) if they previously submitted only one or two images (for a total of three). If an artist submitted three (3) images by the original deadline, they are allowed one additional bonus entry by the new, final deadline (a total of four entries).
We will be reaching out to all artists on Friday, April 28th, with decisions and instructions for next steps to prepare for the May 13th Art Walk opening.

Overview: The Lower Columbia Preservation Society is creating a new, full-color walking tour booklet highlighting the historic homes of Franklin and Grand avenues in Astoria, Oregon. The non-profit organization is asking local and regional artists who are inspired by the historic architecture of the area to contribute illustrations for this new guide. The guide will contain a total of 15 images from a variety of artists.
Selected images will be both recognizable as specific homes and be successfully reproducible at small size - approximately 2.5 x 2.5 inches. They can include the entire structure or a significant detail of the building.
Entries that are selected to be included in the booklet will be included in a Second Saturday Art Walk exhibit at the LCPS office (May 13, 2023). Artists whose entries are not chosen for the booklet may still be invited to display their work during the Art Walk exhibit and have their images displayed online.
Artists will be credited for the use of their images and there may be invitations to participate in other cross-promotions including interviews, podcast appearances, and merchandising.
Submission Process:
Artwork Specifications: Works must be two-dimensional (no three-dimensional work) and can include drawing, painting, mixed-media, water-color and collage etc. No photography.
Selection Process & Notification: All submitted works will be considered by a selection committee made up of board members, staff and volunteers of the Lower Columbia Preservation Society.
All artists who submit work for consideration will be notified of the selection decisions by April 28, 2023.
